"My name is Danielle and I live in Memphis. I have had issues with my weight for as long as I can remember. I have always felt fat...no matter what size I was or what number the scales reflected. This led me to an eating disorder in high school, as I struggled to keep my weight down. My senior year I was in a relationship that lasted 4 years (he was a phsychology major and an aerobic instructor...YOU imagine the pressure!) and being "comfortable", my weight began to fluctuate. I began a series of lose/gain, lose/gain Yo-Yo cycles. After that bad, bad.......BAD relationship ended, my weight began to get out of control. I met and married my "husband" at about 250 pounds. Add a baby to that dynamic and you get up to 300 pounds. Add in a little depression and TADA! One day you go to the doctor and you are told you weigh 350 pounds... There are no words to describe the desperation that set in.

After a vacation that included a theme park visit, (and you know how fun that is for someone 350 pounds...for me OR my son!), it was time to do something about it. And that something, for me, was to begin an exercise program, eat around 1000 calories a day, stay around or under 15 grams of fat, drink TONS of water, and then exercise some more! =) And it seems to be working. As of this date, 11/16/01, I weigh 50 pounds LESS than my starting weight. My goal is to weigh 155 pounds. That goal may change. I will know when I get there. I have never weighed below 175 pounds, so I will have to adjust my goal as I get closer to that weight. Should I get down to 155, I will have lost 195 pounds. I can not tell you how surreal that is to me. 1-9-5. One hundred and ninety five. WOW! That is intimidating...and sometimes inconcievable. But I know I will do it. I will succeed. I may fail many times before I do, but I wont give up. I cant. Because I want to live, love, and look good. For me and my son!!! "

" I have struggled with my weight my whole life i have tried every diet out there the grapefruit diet the cabbage soup diet the 3 day diet the 4 day diet you name it i tried it everything except pills. I have lost weight on each one but never learned anything and put the weight right back on plus some.

In 1995 I lost a bunch of weight and got down to a size 8 I felt great that year I also met my husband when we got married i weighed 145 lbs a year later i had a baby and i quit my job to stay home from 1998 to jan 2001 i went from 145 to 220 lbs i never realized how big i got my husband never complained he always made me feel good about myself.

Jan. 2001 i went to the doctor for a cold and on the paper work he wrote obese when i got home i sat down and cried i could not believe i got this big right then and there i decided to change my life. I started walking with a friend of mine and she kept telling me about weight watchers i never tried it before so i agreed to go. I also started searching the internet for any info i could find i found getting 2 goal. For months I just read every post after a while i felt like i knew everyone. I would laugh and cry reading that we all face the same challenges and struggles finally i started posting. I also met with some goalies who i consider my friends for life. Everyone on the site is very special to me with out getting 2 goal i would never be where i am now. I am 40 yrs old now and i feel better then i did 10 yrs ago i now enjoy walking and drinking water.

" My daily diet consisted of a bowl of cold cereal for breakfast with 1 cup of fruit. I measured everything! I was so surprised to find that my usual 'helpings' were much too large. One cup isn't much more than a handful. I cut out all daily snacks. Other than the skim milk that I put on my morning cereal, I enjoyed diet drinks for my beverage choice. I abstained totally from alcohol, which is very high in calories. I used 'fake' butter and 'fake' sugar, too.

Lunch consisted of one sandwich and one bowl of Campbell's soup (1 serving size) or a small lettuce and tomato salad with 1 Tablespoon of dressing on the side. Generally, my sandwich was made with 1 slice of lean deli meat, lettuce, tomato and a bit of mustard. I was never a mustard lover, but if I could drop 50 pounds, I'd gladly give up my Mayo. Although pickles are very low in calories, I opted against them due to the high sodium content. I was also very aware of the sodium content in the deli meat and made my selections very carefully. When I tired of deli meat, I roasted a bit of chicken and sliced it into thin slices for my sandwich. I opted not to eat red meat during my diet.

Dinners were my most difficult diet dilemma. I would come home from work, very tired, and I longed to just chill out in front of the television with my traditional bag of hot buttered popcorn. I missed those comforting times a lot! I kept my dinners to one slice of meat, 2 cups of steamed vegetables, one slice of bread and one box of sugarfree gelatin for dessert. Sometimes, I think it was the only thing that kept me going - that one box of gelatin at the end of the day! It may seem like a lot, but it's only 40 calories for the entire box and it's really filling.

I lost about 12-15 pounds a month when I was dieting. I hit three weight loss plateaus: one after I had lost 15 pounds, another after I had lost 32 pounds, and another when I had lost 41 pounds. I seemed to stay at the same weight for a week or more during these plateaus. It was very depressing, and I felt like giving up many times. But I stayed the course and when almost 4 months had passed - I WAS AT MY WEIGHT GOAL!!! I HAD WON!!! "
